AM: Was the band a big fan of the whole lounge scene prior to the recording of the record?
BS: We aren’t really fans of that scene. I don’t even know if there even is a scene like that anymore. For us, it all started when we did a song called “L.A. Riot” for the “Not For You” record and it was that whole vibe, but it started off as kind of a goof. But the Slower scene is a bit different than the usual Mower stuff, and may attract fans that normally wouldn’t listen to the Mower stuff. We’ve played some different types of places, places like high end lounges to some strip clubs. It’s cool because I cant name one other band out there mixing this sort of music right now. We’re figuring out as we go.

Alan Hayes was one of many who testified at the preliminary hearing of his son, Brandon.
“She died from strangulation,” said Det. Suzanne Fiske, of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Unit.
Cothron, who lived at the Alpine Mobile Estates, believed her grandson was abusing drugs and stealing from her. Brandon Hayes is accused of murder and robbery, along with alleged accomplice Jeffrey Reed.
“Mr. Reed used a business card to distract her, and that’s when Mr. Hayes rushed in and attacked her,” said Fiske.
Prosecutor Kurt Mechals said after strangling his grandmother, Brandon Hayes and Reed went to Mission Valley on a shopping spree. From there, the pair went to Mexico to spend the $1,500 they stole from Cothron, prosecutors added.
“They bought drugs. They bought prostitutes. They drank,” said Fiske.

San Diego Adult Entertainment: HISTORY COMES ALIVE AT STUDENT’S WALK…

The historical tours were all part of a project prepared by Karissa Valencia (photo, left, in white flapper dress), a Helix Charter High Graduate and incoming freshman at the University of San Diego, to earn her Gold Award in Girl Scouts.
We started our tour at the old railway depot, next to the former Lemon Grove Company. Built in 1894, the store with lemon warehouse behind is now home to a sign company, the brick façade covered in stucco. We strolled across Spring Street and up La Mesa Boulevard, once known as Lookout Avenue and later, part of historic Highway 80.
Where Cosmos Coffee and Hoffers Cigar shop now stand, there was once a hotel—until a fire leveled half the building. “Rumor has it, La Mesa Hotel was once a brothel,” our guide whispered. Next door, produce was once cultivated for the hotel—an urban garden, long before urban gardens became popularized anew.

When the judge asked Rices if he felt any remorse, he said he felt sorry for the people who died, but had no remorse for people “who go against me.”
When asked if Rices was a very bad man, prosecutor Glenn McAllister said outside court, “Very bad is probably a nice way to put it. He ranks right up there among the worst of the worst.”
Inside court, McAllister told the judge that Rices didn’t have to kill his victims.
“Mr. Rices had what he wanted. All he had to do was leave,” the prosecutor said.
Rices had a history of violence but was not a gang member. He was abandoned by his drug-addicted prostitute mother at age 5 in Los Angeles and was shuttled between family members. His grandfather said he tried to fix the youngster but couldn’t, said defense attorney Mark Chambers.

… Please understand who you are helping leave this country, and we ask for your support to bring Ryan to custody,” said Robert Hasman, Fiore’s ex-boyfriend.
“Ryan Jenkins is an animal. What he has done to Jasmine is unspeakable,” he said.
Officials warned anyone who may help Jenkins flee from police.
“Anybody that assists him, helps him in any way, is also subject to being charged as aiding and abetting and harboring a fugitive, so I would suggest to anybody out there that is looking to assist this individual, that they don’t,” said Chief Inspector Thomas Hession from the U.S. Marshals Service.
Fiore had recently moved from Las Vegas to the Fairfax district of Los Angeles until she was reported missing on Saturday. Jenkins and Fiore reportedly met in March when she was dancing at a strip club in Las Vegas, and were married a couple of days after meeting.
