Hookers on El Cajon Boulevard have been a problem for decades in San Diego. Police routinely conduct undercover operations, arresting prostitutes and johns, but they keep coming back.
Prostitution arrests in this area average more than one per day. Used car lot manager Sam Dahman has seen it all. On more than one occasion, he’s found used condoms inside a boat for sale on his lot.

The News 8 CrimeFighters ran the numbers for prostitution arrests over the past three months in North Park and Normal Heights within a one-mile radius of the intersection of El Cajon Boulevard and Interstate 805.
Our Crimetracker map shows 107 arrests for prostitution, all within the past 90 days. Close to 20 of those arrests were clustered near Idaho Street and El Cajon Boulevard.

San Diego Strip Clubs: The Dawn Patrol, By Don Winslow

August 16, 2009 at 12:48 am | In San Diego strip clubs | No Comments

The private investigator is, by convention, a romantic figure, a free spirit, and in this witty and enjoyable crime thriller, Winslow has stretched that convention to the limits. Daniel Boone is a surfer and a prominent figure in the San Diego beach community. He drives a beat-up old van called the Boonemobile, and his friends are all surfers too, with names such as Johnny Banzai.
The question is, can Boone solve his latest case, which involves a stripper who fell to her death from a hotel balcony, another stripper who’s gone missing, and a captive tribe of trafficked Mexican girls, in time to catch the epic macking crunchie (surfbonics for a really big wave) that’s heading San Diego way? Boone is a great creation – apparently lazy and laid-back but with unsuspected qualities of heart, muscle and intellect (he has a secret passion for Dostoevsky). His romance with the beautiful, uptight city lawyer Petra Hall is classic Lady and the Tramp stuff – corny, but it works. Does he wrap up his case in time to surf the wave? Take this to the beach with you and find out.

A spaceship hovers over Johannesburg. It stalled there 28 years ago, when apartheid policies segregated nonwhites into Soweto-like townships. Alien refugees have been closed off from humans in the slums of District 9. Despite their mental acuity, they are demeaned as “prawns” for their crustacean-shell armor and the mouth tentacles that wiggle madly when they speak in gurgles, in our language and in their own.
Blomkamp and co-writer Terri Tatchell are not above having a laugh at, say, the aliens’ jones for cat food, cans and all, and the popularity of interspecies prostitution. But there is serious business in watching the world grow bored as the aliens fail to put on fireworks for the media by attacking or showing off. Instead, they follow the human model and form gangs, hassle cops, deal with Nigerian drug dealers and — yes — plan an escape by covertly building weapons.

San Diego Strip Clubs: Golding’s Grudge

August 13, 2009 at 12:48 am | In San Diego strip clubs | No Comments

As I turned around with my piece of pizza, I noticed a stripper pole next to the back deck. Of course, it was only a matter of 30 minutes (and a few beers) before guys were swinging on it, acting goofy.
Robert was wearing a cowboy hat made of beer boxes along with shorts that he somehow made from the cases. I saw him talk to a woman covered in beer coasters.

His future son-in-law ordered a Styrofoam cooler and cut it up to make his outfit. The part around his body was snug. He’d cut a huge hole in the lid — that was his hat. When everyone started dancing on the patio, he started joking around and pretending to do a strip tease. He was a bit drunk but was being funny and entertaining. Amanda, from over on the back deck, yelled sarcastically, “Stay away, ladies. He’s mine.”

But I never made it onto the stripper pole.

Pimp This Ride’: The Ultimate Bad-Boy Toy – Assassinated Nicaragua President’s Mercedes 300D Limo, Opportunity to Own Piece of History
SAN DIEGO, Aug. 6 /PRNewswire/ — The presidential limousine from the Somoza family dictatorship, a 1957 custom-built Mercedes 300D, is up for auction on eBay, item #180384545649, beginning August 7, 2009.
MotoringInvestments.com is making this heirloom, specifically built to suit the ego of Luis Somoza Debayle, available to the public for the first time in 30 years. On September 17, 1980, the 43-year dynasty of the Somoza family was ended with the assassination of Anastasio Somoza Debayle. The elegance and power of this car are symbolic of the dictatorship that spanned for almost a half-century in Nicaragua.
From an official Daimler-Benz letter, it appears that Luis Somoza ordered this Mercedes on September 14, 1957. In the letter to Daimler-Benz, Aktiengesellschaft Somoza indicated that this limousine was to have special features including refrigeration, radio-telephone, a military siren and blue parade lamp.
