Authorities close illegal strip club

During the course of the inspection, officers and agents discovered a strip club in operation at the rear of the business and an individual “in the back area was selling lingerie to the ladies of the adult entertainment section,” Housand said.
He said the strip club contained three “strip poles” and a list of services and prices for various performances, such as “lap dances.”

• David Pope, 57, of Atlanta, Ga., was charged with operating a business without a business license in the Town of Santee. Housand said Pope was allegedly selling lingerie to women performing at the strip club.

Housand said although authorities shut down the strip club operations early Thursday morning, the Shark Bar may continue to operate under its existing business license.

San Diego Adult Entertainment: Minutemen Founder Faces Another Defamation Lawsuit, 10News.com

December 30, 2009 at 3:25 am | In San Diego adult entertainment | No Comments

Jeff Schwilk is the focus of another defamation lawsuit that will be filed next week. In May, a jury decided he helped defame activist Joanne Yoon and was fined more than $130,000. A jury found Schwilk e-mailed members links to a Web site that called her vulgar names and implied Yoon was a prostitute.
Recently, another e-mail to Minutemen members allegedly defaming Yoon was obtained by her attorney, Dan Gilleon.
“We’re surprised Jeff would be this stupid to do this again,” said Gilleon.
The e-mail discusses Yoon, and then ends with a Web link and a statement: “Ironically, a video has surfaced recently on YouTube of Joanne Yoon admitting she is a prostitute and a hooker.” The Web link leads to the video with a young Asian woman laughingly claiming she’s a prostitute and a hooker.

San Diego Strip Clubs: Bowl-goer’s guide to San Diego

… Catch up with old friends at the University of Arizona Pregame Party, held at Lot L inside the Qualcomm Stadium parking lot. Tickets for the 2 p.m. party are $50, and include grilled-to-order burgers and hot dogs, ranch beans, potato salad, fruit and dessert. Beer and wine are also available as part of a cash bar.
Three places to eat downtown
• As kids, we’d drive 20 minutes toward the border for a Lolita’s Taco Shop monster burrito. Luckily, the South Bay landmark since 1984 established a downtown location (202 Park Blvd.), an Adrian Gonzalez home run from Petco Park.
• Don’t wait in line at The Fish Market (750 North Harbor Drive) like a sucker. Instead, walk to the back porch on the harbor and sit down. A waiter will soon appear, and you’ll order a heavy beer and smoked albacore.
• Take the family to the Gaslamp Strip Club (340 Fifth Ave.) — they’ll love it! It’s a steakhouse where you cook your own. What did you think we were talking about?

San Diego Strip Clubs: Sailor testifies about being drugged, sexually assaulted

December 24, 2009 at 4:12 pm | In San Diego strip clubs | No Comments

The prosecution will present DNA evidence and other testimony later to link Huynh to the murder. Williams’ cause of death could not be determined by the county medical examiner’s office. Like the sailor, Williams’ underwear was missing, though he was found fully clothed.
Williams was seen intoxicated in the Gaslamp Quarter in the early morning hours on Jan. 26, 2008, but he went missing. His parents put up posters of their blond-haired son seeking information of his whereabouts and later about his death.
The sailor said that Huynh struck up a conversation with him at Horton Plaza and initially asked him “if I wanted to go to strip clubs. I said no.” The sailor said Huynh offered to buy a lap dance for him, but he declined. The sailor said he drank cognac and beer with Huynh and received what he thought were Tylenol pills inside Huynh’s car.

San Diego Adult Entertainment: This is Christmas, damn it! What happened?

December 23, 2009 at 8:13 pm | In San Diego adult entertainment | No Comments

But here’s the fun part, right at the end of that particular chapter from James: “Was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she welcomed the messengers and sent them out by a different route?” Rahab was not a Jew, one of God’s chosen race; Rahab was a prostitute living in Jericho. What did she do to earn this justification by works? She hid a couple of Jewish spies in her home, spies who were helping to prepare an invasion. A fallen woman sides with God’s people over her own for entirely selfish reasons (so she’ll be spared in the coming bloodshed), and it gets her mentioned right alongside Father Abraham in James’s treatment of faith and works. Ladies and gentlemen, this is why no Christian should be sorry to see the Christmas Spirit, along with all the generosity it entails, adopted in an institutional fashion by the wider world each December. You think it cheapens things to have nonbelievers feeling good about themselves for throwing a few dollars into the Salvation Army pot? Remember Rahab.
