Nine people have been indicted on federal child sex trafficking and prostitution charges in San Diego.
Six of the defendants pleaded not guilty after the federal grand jury indictment was unsealed Tuesday in U.S. District Court. U.S. attorney’s officials say the defendants are members of a criminal street gang. The group includes five men and three women from Oceanside and one 57-year-old man from Wildomar. Prosecutors say the group used the Craigslist Website between January and November 2009 to solicit clients for three young women, ages 15, 16 and 19. If convicted, the defendants face 10-15 years or life in prison, depending on their criminal history.

OCEANSIDE
Five men and three women from Oceanside have been indicted on numerous federal charges related to prostitution, including the sex trafficking of children, authorities said Tuesday.
The group are accused of being members of a criminal street gang from North County and southern Riverside County that used Craigslist between January and November 2009 to solicit clients for the women, ages 15, 16 and 19, authorities said.
The group, which includes a ninth person from Wildomar, was indicted December 4th, authorities said. The indictment was unsealed Tuesday during an appearance in San Diego federal court in which six of the defendants pleaded not guilty. The remaining three are incarcerated on state charges and are expected to soon be transferred to the federal system, authorities said.
