San Diego Adult Entertainment: THEATER REVIEW: "The Threepenny Opera" has a bite at UCSD
January 31, 2011 at 6:49 pm | In San Diego adult entertainment | No CommentsBut the bitter “Cannon Song” brought applause with its recurring line (“A soldier’s married to the gun he carries”) and chorus: “John is missing and Jimmy is dead/And Georgie was shot for looting/And young men’s blood goes on being red/While the Army just goes on recruiting.” By the time the show was over, Brecht and Weill had the biggest hit of the ’20s on their hands.
Now UCSD’s Department of Theatre and Dance offers a biting production of the Brecht/Weill classic through Feb. 5 at the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre.
On and around Ian Wallace’s enormous three-level jungle gym-like set stretching the entire width of the stage area, Brecht’s thieves, beggars and harlots ply their respective trades in a London slum. The time is 1838 and Queen Victoria is about to be crowned. London is jammed with onlookers.
The denizens of Soho are ready. Jonathan Peachum (Zachary Martens) heads a group of beggars whom he costumes with sympathy-inducing debilities (and pockets 70% of their take); Jenny Diver (Anne Stella) runs a brothel; master criminal Macheath (Zachary Harrison), aka Mack the Knife, roams the area, taking what and whom he wants.

January 28, 2011 at 7:12 am | In San Diego strip clubs | No CommentsSuddenly, Tiger has taken a round that at times has been disappointing — his play on par fives — and brought it back to life with a rock-solid string of pars mixed with three birdies. He caught a bit of minor bad luck on his drive as a strong drive down the middle trickled just into the light rough on this hole that doglegs to the right. Tiger’s approach was good, landing about 10 feet from the hole. His putt was strong but missed on the left. Tiger threw up his arms in disgust. Certainly a missed opportunity on a day when the leaderboard was getting very crowded. Tiger is three under after 16 holes.

San Diego Escorts: Nicolls Employs Work And Educational Experience To Serve More Students In More …
January 27, 2011 at 7:12 pm | In San Diego escorts | No CommentsInspiration for a professional career often comes from unexpected places and that is true of Nicolls. In his case, it was an audio tape created when he was 12 years old and in sixth grade, which consisted of a series of interviews asking teachers, “What advice would you give to a young person who wants to teach?”
“When I came back from my sailing adventure, I entered a teaching credential program,” Nicolls said. “I was a teacher’s assistant and then a substitute teacher while I finished my credential. My first contract was to teach at The Place, which is a high school for homeless teens, located at the corner of 13th and Market in San Diego. It was located on the first floor of a prostitute hotel. We provided a place to eat, bathe, and gave them some clothes and a place to sleep. If they were receptive, we tried to teach them.”

In moves that some said further undercut California’s medical marijuana law, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved an $11,000 annual fee on Tuesday to operate medical pot shops in the county’s unincorporated areas, and further restricted where the shops can open.
Supervisors Ron Roberts and Greg Cox said the fee, which would pay for the Sheriff’s Department services, appeared “high.”
In fact, it’s the highest annual fee charged to any Sheriff’s Department-regulated business in the county.
By comparison, the department charges $637 to start up a backcountry strip club, $684 to establish a bathhouse on rural land and $398 to open a massage parlor. A sheriff’s official said the less expensive fees haven’t been updated for several years.
San Diego Escorts: Tijuana debut for Mexican ID card program
January 25, 2011 at 6:01 pm | In San Diego escorts | No CommentsTIJUANA Tijuana was the setting Monday for the launch of an identity card program aimed at minors across Mexico, a move that authorities said would reduce paperwork as well as protect against child trafficking, prostitution and other forms of abuse.
As hundreds of uniformed students from Miguel Hidalgo Elementary School watched, sixth-grader Leslie Carolina García became the first person in Mexico to register for the card.
Mexico’s interior minister, José Francisco Blake Mora, called it a “historic day” for Mexico. “This is not an option for authorities or for the government,” he said. “It is a constitutional obligation to offer this identification card.”
…
With the document, they won’t need to present a birth certificate when registering for school, medical appointments or to receive other public services, Blake said. Authorities said the cards also will certify a child’s identity, critical in cases of children who are missing or forced into prostitution.
