San Diego Escorts: How a Pimp’s Android Pattern Lock Foiled the Feds

March 17, 2012 at 8:25 pm | In San Diego escorts | No Comments

The FBI seems to be having a bit of trouble accessing electronic evidence lately. First there was the case of the forgotten encryption key, and now the Bureau is unable to prosecute a notorious San Diego pimp because they can’t break his Android’s screen lock.

When the FBI got wise to his plan, they confronted Dears about the phone-pimping. Dears immediately claimed the phone belonged to his sister and refused to give up the unlock pattern even though they confiscated the phone. So the Feds sent the Samsung to its Regional Computer Forensics Lab in Southern California for cracking.

Google hasn’t responded to the warrant yet. It should also be noted that this isn’t just a case of the Man coming down on a hard-working pimp. Dears, if court records are to be believed, is no Big Poppa with a heart of gold. According to Ars Technica,

PhD pimp’s mobe lock screen outwits Feds – Google told to help
Warrant served on Chocolate Factory
A judge has backed a request from the FBI from Google for assistance in obtaining the secrets held on the Android smartphone of a hustler described as a founding member of the “Pimpin’ Hoes Daily” (PhD) gang in San Diego.
The FBI is seeking information that includes tips on how to get past a pattern lock.
Dante Dears was jailed for four years back in 2005 on charges of kidnapping and pimping, largely of under-age teenage prostitutes, according to local reports by the San Diego Tribune at the time.
After Dears was released from prison in 2009, he violated his parole and was again returned to prison for another one-and-a-half years. He was released last spring. But the Feds suspected he had returned to his old business after an informant tipped off the FBI’s human trafficking squad that the offender was again up to no good.

San Diego Escorts: FBI Wants Google’s Help Cracking Local Pimp’s Android Phone

FBI Wants Google’s Help Cracking Local Pimp’s Android Phone By Dave Rice | Posted March 15, 2012, 7:44 a.m.
The FBI has requested help from Google in cracking the access codes to a San Diego pimp’s cell phone, the website ars technica is reporting.
Chula Vista resident Dante Dears, who served prison time related to his founding and operation of the prostitution ring Pimpin’ Hoes Daily (PHD), was originally convicted in 2005 for crimes related to an incident in which he recruited and later beat a 15 year-old girl from a homeless shelter. Released in 2009, he soon returned to prison on parole violations.
Released again in 2011, Dears again allegedly returned to his old operations, conducting business on a Samsung Android cell phone while tethered to his Chula Vista apartment via a GPS tracking device.

FBI, stumped by pimp’s Android pattern lock, serves warrant on Google

In addition to accessing the phone, agents also want Google to turn over e-mail searches, Web searches, GPS tracking data, websites visited, and text messages. A federal judge has agreed. Hopefully, digital devices can make life hard out there for a pimp—but the case also reminds us just how much data smartphones generate on even innocuous users.

Dears went to prison. When he got out in 2009, he quickly violated his parole on three separate occasions and went back to jail for a year and half. Upon his release in May 2011, an FBI informant says he saw Dears return to his old activities. Shackled with a GPS monitor, Dears had to stay off the streets, but he was allegedly able to continue his “telephone pimping” with the help of a Samsung Android phone.

San Diego Escorts: New Company Will Help Serve Mt. Helix-area Seniors In Their Homes

March 10, 2012 at 1:37 pm | In San Diego escorts | No Comments

Josh Allen, RN, C-AL, has been named director of the new SRG senior living company, which will offer a wide-array of home care services to seniors and others in need of assistance and support.  The company also offers a specialized Care Transition Program to help discharged patients transition from hospital to home.
“The driving force behind SRG’s success has been the combination of genuine hospitality and high levels of accredited care.  For instance, in 2004 SRG became the first major senior living provider in the U.S. to earn across-the-board accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities or CARF,” said Grust.
“Our aim is to extend the SRG philosophy to the home care industry by providing dedicated professional staff who are trained in both home care and hospitality,” said Allen, who has been part of the SRG team for more than 10 years.
Services will range from personal care assistance to escort services, household chores to just about anything on a person’s To Do list, including medication reminders and prescription maintenance.

San Diego Escorts: Tijuana businessman helps at-risk kids

March 4, 2012 at 6:12 pm | In San Diego escorts | No Comments

For Mexico, the clubs fill a profound need for preventive programs, Gamboa said. “The government of Mexico is not yet thinking about prevention. They think about going after drug traffickers, but they don’t invest money in prevention. The right way to go is to prevent, prevent, prevent. That’s the future of our country.”
Children growing up in Mexican border communities are especially vulnerable, often supported by single working mothers and left with little supervision when the school day ends, Gamboa said. A study by his group has shown that 45 percent of the mothers who work in Tijuana’s low-wage maquiladora factories are single heads of household.
“They have kids, they don’t have people to leave them with. What happens to that kid? He goes to the street, he becomes involved in drugs, in prostitution, in many things,” Gamboa said.

Legal | Tom Spurgeon is impressed that U.S. marshals were able to sell meth dealer Aaron Castro’s collection of 18,000 comics for a cool $125,000. “Have you tried to sell comics in a “take them all” fashion these days? They got a ton of bids, too. I’m not saying it’s worth starting a prostitution ring to find someone willing to take on my complete run of Dagar The Invincible, but if I have to move again I’ll definitely think about it.” [The Comics Reporter]

San Diego Escorts: ACORN scandal investigator reflects on his partnership with Andrew Breitbart

March 1, 2012 at 4:13 pm | In San Diego escorts | No Comments

Andrew Breitbart died today at 43. Over the course of his career, the conservative activist and (though we grudgingly use the term) journalist had a role in a few high-profile stories about the now-defunct organization ACORN in San Diego. He was front-and-center after James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles created a misleading video that purported to show an ACORN worker giving advice on how to traffic prostitutes. And he also helped publicize a local private investigator’s discovery of a cache of internal documents left outside an ACORN office.

This morning, many people like me awoke to a buzzing Blackberry with a flurry of tweets, text messages and news alerts telling us that one of our fearless defenders of truth, Andrew Breitbart, had died. My thoughts were immediately with his wife and children. Breitbart once shared with me his vision of empowering citizen journalists by giving them a format and platform for their voices to be heard over the strident prepackaged message of mainstream media outlets. If Breitbart helped c …

San Diego Escorts: In revived Tijuana, a new calm delights – and mystifies

March 1, 2012 at 4:13 pm | In San Diego escorts | No Comments

But some experts cite a more sinister reason. They say the calm is because Mexicoâs most powerful crime group has seized control of Tijuanaâs key drug-trafficking corridor and now enforces the peace. Rival drug gangs that used to gun down one another simply are working together now.
The issue goes beyond Tijuanaâs boundaries. Some Mexicans in the nationâs interior hail Tijuana as a model for how to combat runaway violence. If, however, the calm is owed to once-feuding drug lords having settled their battles, any effort to replicate it elsewhere will only muddle a law-and-order problem.
Whatever the case, relief is palpable. In a city long known for forbidden pursuits such as gambling and prostitution, residents wear their fame for perdition lightly, enjoying nights out on the town. Few delve into the reasons for the calm.
