SAN DIEGO—A San Diego building owner has agreed to shut down four pot dispensaries and 12 massage parlors that were operating out of his property in a settlement with the city attorney’s office.
San Diego City Attorney Jan Goldsmith says the businesses were a blight to the local community.
North Park building owner Steven Greenwald didn’t admit liability in the settlement, and agreed to pay $10,000 in civil penalties and has reimbursed the city more than $4,000 in investigation costs.
Greenwald faces $40,000 in further fines if he doesn’t comply with the terms of the settlement.
The pastor of a church across the street from the building had testified that the dispensaries’ customers often smoked marijuana on the church’s playground.

San Diego Massage Parlors: San Diego building owner agrees to evict pot dispenaries, massage parlors
September 30, 2011 at 12:24 am | In San Diego massage parlors | No CommentsThe owner of a building in the North Park neighborhood has agreed to evict four medical marijuana dispensaries and a dozen massage parlors from his building, the San Diego city attorney announced Thursday.
City Atty. Jan Goldsmith had sought a court order against the owner on the premise that the marijuana and massage businesses were violating city zoning laws.
A San Diego police officer said he believes the marijuana dispensaries were responsible for an increase in loitering, traffic congestion and smoking pot in public.
The owner of the building at 4009-4010 Park Blvd., while not admitting liability, has agreed to pay $10,000 in civil penalties, Goldsmith said.

DEL MAR
Del Mar, a city that in 1995 was raided by the county Sheriff’s Department for prostitution at six massage parlors, will likely pass an ordinance Monday that recognizes a state board as the proper licensee for massage therapists.
Massage technicians are licensed by a state board called California Massage Therapists Council, created in September 2009 through Senate Bill 731. The law allows masseuses to be licensed by the state and practice in any city.
Del Mar will still apply its business licensing, health and safety regulations and land-use policies to the parlors.
The Del Mar City Council on Monday is expected to adopt an ordinance incorporating the state board into its municipal code.

July 4, 2011 at 1:36 pm | In San Diego massage parlors | No Comments… In many ways, for Pheu Thai voters, Thaksin is symbolic of the lack of democracy and fairness,” commented Kevin Hewison, professor of Asian studies at the University of North Carolina. “More than that, the vote is about having a voice that is heard. If you could yell into the ballot box, this is that yell. It is not a ‘rebel yell,’ but a demand for elections and votes that count in Thailand.”
Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva meanwhile resigned Monday as leader of the Democrat Party, which has led a coalition government since December 2008, after it won just 159 seats.
“I think that a good leader has to show responsibility,” he said, explaining why he decided to step down.
Joining the Democrats in opposition will be the Rak Thailand – Love Thailand – Party of former massage parlor tycoon Chuvit Kamolvisit, whose tough-talking, anti-corruption campaign garnered four seats.

One was hospitalized after being beaten up, and another had her car window shot out. Everyone was convinced that it was because they had “talked.” Plus one of the grad students on the team was pulled into her boss’ corporate utility office where she worked – a place totally unrelated to the study - and ordered to stop the research – even though she had never disclosed what she was doing in the study to her boss. Finally, the nail in the coffin came from the team’s supervising professor, who declared the project over, as she said, one shouldn’t have to risk their life doing theirs master thesis.
So, while Hoobler was overseeing the high-end trade, his replacement, Bill Kolender, spear headed an attack on massage parlors and El Cajon Boulevard street walkers. But he never went after the Mission Valley hotels – where everyone agreed was the center of activity.

San Diego Massage Parlors: Montana to Tecate: Adventures by Motorcycle
April 12, 2011 at 6:36 pm | In San Diego massage parlors | No CommentsI usually rest and sleep late for a week or so after school gets out and just enjoy not getting up early and going to school. It’s nice to hear others going to work knowing that I won’t have to do so for a couple of months. So I take out a road atlas and look at the western United States and try to decide where I want to go.
From San Diego, it’s mainly north and west. I’m not comfortable with going down into Mexico on my motorcycle — too many things to worry about. I do have one place in mind: Pine Flats campground up in Lowman, Idaho. I had gotten a tattoo from a guy named Kinsey who ran a tattoo parlor on lower Broadway when there used to be many tattoo and massage parlors located all along Broadway in downtown San Diego.

VISTA
Three women at a Vista massage parlor were cited Monday during an undercover prostitution sting, sheriff’s officials said.
The deputies were investigating reports of prostitution occurring at Transcend Spa on Sycamore Avenue near Green Oak Road. Officials had received complaints about a high volume of men visiting the salon at all hours of the day, as well as reports from female masseuses alleging illegal activity.
Three men were contacted during the sting Monday and released after being questioned, said Sgt. Joe Mata. The spa’s 54-year-old owner and two female employees were taken to the Vista sheriff’s station for questioning and later released on their written promise to appear in court.
