Federal Judge Roger Benitez ordered Adrian Zitlalpopoca-Hernandez, 33, to federal prison for sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion and bringing the women into the United States for financial gain.
Zitlalpopoca was arrested in Vista in 2008 after an Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Sheriff’s Department investigation of prostitution in North County migrant camps.
The two women testified at trial that Zitlalpopoca, who is 10 years their senior, romanced them separately in Mexico. He called each of them his “wife” while forcing them into prostitution and handing over their earnings, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

On Jan. 6, at the end of a three-day trial, Zitlalpopoca was convicted on 10 counts involving prostitution and smuggling.
