The California Highway Patrol’s pursuit of a Corvette ended with a crash in Kearny Mesa, where an officer fired a warning shot at the suspect, who initially got away but was arrested near a nightclub early today.
The pursuit started on state Route 125 near Interstate 8, and the crash and no-hits shooting occurred along state Route 163 near the Balboa Avenue offramp about 12:30 a.m., according to the CHP and reports from the scene.
CHP Officer Brian Penning told a freelance videographer that the lead officer in pursuit of the suspect fired a warning shot at the suspect following the crash, but no one was hurt.
Though the suspect initially got away, he was caught in a search of the area at the Pure Platinum nightclub in the 4000 block of Kearny Mesa Road, according to the CHP.
